Bali – Otavio Dutra is one step away from recording a new record in his career. After officially becoming a citizen, he immediately underwent a debut match with the Indonesian national team in an official match.
The stopper owned by Persebaya began participating in training with the Indonesian National Team at Gelora Trisakti Field, Kuta, Bali, Sunday (10/13/2019). It was his first training after becoming a citizen at the end of September 2019.
Dutra was prepared to appear in the Indonesian national team match against Vietnam in the fourth match of Group G in the second round of the World Cup 2022 Asian zone qualifiers at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Tuesday night (10/15/2019).
"I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. When I was practicing first, I was waiting, but it still didn't become (Indonesian citizen). Now my momentum is against Vietnam, "said the Brazilian.
"Hopefully I can play well and can help the national team. That's the important thing. "Anyone who can score goals, we must be able to get three points," added Dutra.
Dutra has submitted a naturalization file since February 2019. The 35-year-old player received a recommendation from coach Simon McMenemy to defend the Indonesian national team and become a citizen.
